Wooden doors swell in the rainy season because wood absorbs moisture from humid air, while unsealed areas may also take in liquid water from damp floors, leaks or wind-driven rain. Stop direct water exposure
Repair plumbing leaks, redirect rainwater and prevent bathroom water from remaining against the door. Exterior doors may require maintained weather seals, better drainage or protection from direct rain.
A darkened, softened or peeling bottom edge often indicates repeated contact with liquid water. Sanding another part of the door will not correct that source.
Control humidity in enclosed rooms
Bathrooms, kitchens and closed rooms can retain moisture long after rain stops. Exhaust ventilation, cross-ventilation during drier periods, air-conditioning in dry mode or a dehumidifier can reduce the amount of moisture available for the door to absorb.
